About Caitlin C. Houghton, MD
Dr. Houghton is an esteemed member of the Upper GI and General Surgery Division and serves patients at our Keck Hospital and Hoag locations. Dr. Houghton graduated with honors from Wayne State Medical School in Detroit. She then completed her surgical residency at UC Irvine before heading to UC San Diego, where she completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Advanced Endoscopic Surgery.
Dr. Houghton has a particular expertise in robotic surgery. She continues to expand her skills in this area, and has been involved in setting up a robotic surgery training program for residents. Her other clinical interests include the diagnosis and treatment gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), hiatal and paraesophageal hernias, and esophageal motility disorders, including achalasia. She has been intstrumental in starting our Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM) program at USC.
