About Stuart A. Abel, MD
Dr. Abel is a board-certified general surgeon. He received his medical degree from Rush University Medical College and completed his general surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. He took on an advanced fellowship in minimally invasive hernia, upper GI, and bariatric surgery at Vanderbilt University before coming to Keck Medicine of USC.
Dr. Abel has a particular interest in techniques that are less invasive and offer patients safer, more comfortable recoveries. He joined USC because we have the commitment and resources to remain on the leading edge of these advancements. Dr. Abel combines his expertise with a holistic approach to patient needs to offer an exceptional quality of care.
Through his commitment to teaching, research, and clinical care, he hopes to help move surgical innovation forward and shape the next generation of talented surgeons.
