Tanaz R. Ferzandi, MD

Dr. Tanaz R. Ferzandi joined Keck Medicine of USC and Los Angeles County Hospital as the Division Director of Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery in 2019. She is the Service Line Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Keck Hospital, Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Keck School of Medicine, and Associate Fellowship Director for Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. 

Dr. Ferzandi completed her medical degree and her Masters in Cell Biology at the University of Kansas Medical Center.  She then completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, followed by a three-year fellowship in Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive surgery at Harvard.  Given her interest in health care policy and business, Dr. Ferzandi obtained her Master’s in Business Administration from the Heller School of Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University.

During Dr. Ferzandi has been an active member of the American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS) serving on the Coding Committee, the Payment Reform Committee, and the Finance Committee.  She served a 3-year term as a Director-at-Large on the Board of Directors for the organization and as the the Chair for the practice management arm.  In January 2023, she was elected as Vice President of AUGS. 

Dr. Ferzandi is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is active with the advocacy arm of the College and is an elected member on the ACS ‘Women in Surgery’ Committee.

During her tenure in Boston, Dr. Ferzandi developed the Urogynecology Division at Tufts Medical Center pursuant to her fellowship.  She chaired numerous committees including the Physician Organization’s Policy and Process committee and the GYN QI/QA committee, Tufts MC Credentials Committee. She was also on the Governance Committee for the Operating Room, the Medical Staff Board and the Quality Assurance Board for the hospital.  Her tenure culminated in being elected President of the Medical Staff for Tufts Medical Hospital.  Upon her move to USC, she has taken on several roles in administration to continue to advance the newly minted division of Urogynecology and align with her principals in quality assurance.

   Dr. Ferzandi is an examiner for the American Board of Ob-Gyn (general and subspecialty boards).  She is passionate about education and training the next generation of Gynecologists and Urogynecologists and has received numerous teaching awards and accolades for her efforts.  She was named by Boston Magazine and Castle Connolly “Top Doctors” for several years, and upon arriving at Keck has been named “Top Doctors in 2021” by LA Business Journal.
